Erykah Badu threw some FUNK IN MY FACE!!! Check it out HERE!!!

I rubbed shoulders with a legendary sister of Neo-soul was in London this week!
Last night I had the pleasure of attending an exclusive set of soul, funk, Jazz, Old skool House and hip hop provided and supplied by DJ Low Down Loretta Brown aka ERYKAH BADU!!!

Organised by Hip hop specialist The Doctor's Orders Erykah Badu was tearing up the dance floor at the intimate bar and club East Village in my favourite hang out Shoreditch.

Now I'm going to be honest here... I had no idea that Erykah Badu was a DJ and I was shocked!!! Not because she's a DJ, not because she's a FEMALE DJ.... but because this is ERYKAH BADU!!!
I was not ready for this. I was expecting to be swaying to slow jamz all night not bopping my head to funk and hip hop!

But this event was definitely an eye-opener and insight into the world of miss Badu.
I think every DJ shares a piece of themselves with us when they jump on the decks and we could definitely hear alot of Erykah Badu's influences in the music she provided and played!

The vibe was amazing and it was wonderful to see such a variation in age, ethinicities and culture come and party with miss Badu.
As you can see below the star knows how to work her way around the mixer and also Serato :-) ( see I know some DJ stuff lol) but I definitely prefer her as a singer over the DJ-ing as there was quite a few clangs and over use of the loop function... but *shrugs* HELLO IT'S ERYKAH BADU... she could have played all the tracks backwards and everyone would have loved her for it!

DEFO HAVE TO GIVE PROPS TO THE DOCTOR'S ORDERS TEAM for puting on a great event ( even though i think she should have sang a lil aswell) The team are also doing what they can to arrange a second date for this exclusive event! So check them out!!!

Make sure you catch my radio show Tuesday 7- 9pm on www.urbaneliteradio.com www.urbaneliteradio.com

On the last #RateMePlz show I had probably one of my most controversial panels.

They were opinionated to say the least... but THAT IS WHAT #RateMePlz is all about!

I was joined in the studio by former Rinse FM DJ and Grime specialist DJ SMALLZ

Host with the Most FATZ and his 'Talks too much' DJ Docta Cosmic lol

They helped me decide the next #RateMePlz track of the week.

The former winner was Shakka - with a track entitled Thank you, taken off of 'The Shakka Crown Affair'.

The tracks we rated were:

1) Soneni & The soul - Cloud Nine

2)Zion citizen - Rolling with the nine

3)Leighanna - Your the Man

4) GT Solo ft D DARK & Casso Blax - See Me.

The Winning track chosen by a show of hands... amongst a lot of cheeky debate was

GT Solo's See Me taken from the Grinding Sessions Mixtape.

I definitely think he needs his own band!

Another artist that caught my eye on the night was poet ChaleBoy!

As always I am on the look out for the fresh new talent! New music and the perfect #RateMePlz track of the week.

And since starting my show I have stumbled across some of the most unique artists and definitely a good few ones to watch!

I would like introduce you all to SHAKKA

The Shakka Crown Affair is most definitely one of the most unique mixtape's I have heard in a long while.

Through infectious harmonies, a unique flow, thought provoking content, it focuses around a story-line of based on Shakka Crown - alike Thomas Crown - a billionaire bored of his riches, who steals a priceless music artifact from The London Wiltshire Museum.

This creative use of audio sketches allows you to follow the story of his AMAZING... yes I said it amazing mixtape!

Here's a little snippet of one of my favourite tracks on the mixtape but trust me Every song is a BANGER!!!

You can download your own copy of the Mixtape HERE!!!

If you would like your music reviewed by Remel London and also airplay on #RateMePlz every Tuesday 7-9pm on www.urbaneliteradio.com contact RemelLondon@yahoo.com
